BeeBooster Instructions

Overview

Two inserts should be used per acre. Sixty grams of regular strength PollenPro pollen per acre should be used during bloom. When weather conditions are conducive for pollination, and there is ample bee activity, pollen should be renewed in the dispenser at least every hour.

When bee activity is not as great, the pollen should be renewed at least 2 to 3 times per day or whenever the pollen in the dispenser is low.

Placing the Inserts on the Hive

  • Use two inserts per acre
  • If you have more than one hive, the most active hives should be marked a few days before application. To mark the hives, place the inserts on top of the most active hives when bee flight is occurring.
  • Early in the morning or in the evening, when no bee flight is occurring, take the insert off of the top of the hive, and place it at the hive entrance. Make sure the BeeBooster logo is facing you when you place the inserts on the hive.

Weather Conditions

  • Watch weather conditions and bloom development. Newly opening flowers are receptive and usually remain so for 24 to 72 hours. High temperature and/or low humidity shorten bloom life. Warm, calm days are ideal.
  • Pollen should only be added to the inserts when it is 55°F or above.
  • Pollen should not be added to the inserts if it is raining outside.
  • Let the bee activity act as your guide. If there is ample bee flight, adding pollen to the inserts is ideal. Do not add pollen to the inserts if there is little to no bee flight.

Placing Pollen in the BeeBooster Inserts

  • Pollen should be split into the number of applications you intend to make. For example, if you intend to do three separate applications, you would use 20 grams of pollen for each application. A rounded teaspoon is approximately 5 grams and a level tablespoon is about 10 grams.
  • When bee flight begins, place PollenPro pollen in the insert. Use about one level teaspoon to start. Check the insert at half hour or 45 minute intervals and replace pollen as bees take it out. When there is a lot of bee activity, pollen should be renewed in the dispenser at least every hour. When bee activity is not as great, the pollen should be renewed at least 2 to 3 times per day.
  • If large amounts of pollen are seen on the ground in front of the dispenser, this indicates that too much pollen is being used at one time, and the bees are being forced to burrow through the pollen to leave the hive. If this is the case, the amount of pollen that is renewed should be reduced.
  • Spread the pollen over the length of the plastic plate.
